Does anyone know of an app that will let you save your contacts directly to your Gmail contacts without even trying to save them to the phone? I hate when I've added a number to the phone then later go in thinking it's in Gmail but it's not. I figure someone surely has made something to get around that but I haven't been able to find anything.

You want to save all contacts as "Google" contacts. This will automatically sync them with Gmail.

Just as JPC said, when you make a contact select google option not phone. If they are already saved as phone only, then download an app from the market that will backup your contacts and convert them to .csv file. Then go to gmail and import that file to your email account. Once done it will sync them with your phone as google/gmail contacts..

It just saves them to my phone and not to my Google account. I can see all my Google contacts as well but any newly created contacts just save to the phone. The option to sync Gmail contacts is checked but with the behavior I'm seeing I assumed that must mean the Gmail contacts got sent to the phone (which I does work) but not from the phone to Gmail. So what you are saying is this *should* be doing what I want by default?

No, while making the contact there is an option to save the contact as a phone or Google contact (in a drop-down menu) and you want to choose Google.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up. I didn't ever notice that before.
