Let us know how the battery fares with root. How are you liking the root?

Ok so today got some good life out of it.

9am off charger 100% & at 10:30pm tonight had 38% left with moderate usage. Installed some apps, checked internet, watched a couple of youtube videos, my twitter updates at every 10min, facebook updates every hour. They main battery save is while its sitting idle, battery drain is almost non-existant.

Some tweeks I did:

Conditioned battery -
Phone on & charged 8hrs, then unplug, turn off phone & plug in for 1 Hour, then unplug & turn on and let boot up fully, wait 2 minutes, turn off and plug in. Let charge 1 more hour. Turn on for 2 minutes then did battery pull and restarted.

Installed Set CPU

On Demand
1024 Max / 245 Min

Profile
Screen Off 245 Max / 245 Min - No lag noticed at all for phone wakeup or incoming calls

Turned off window animations
Set screen to around 30%
Shut off sync to programs like, news, last fm, flickr. They can sync upon opening so no big deal.

All seems really good, will monitor more tomorrow..

It seems to me that a huge improver is to unplug (after charging) and turn it off for about an hour. It's dramatically raised my battery life. I may root for bloat ware removal to improve even more.

My battery life was horrible!!! However, I installed the free version of Juice defender and it has doubled my battery life with no additional modifications in the phone or apps settings. If you're having battery trouble give it a try.

I've had better battery life after a week of use.  THe conditioning of the battery has helped (and since its not as new, I'm not on it every 5 mins).  Mine usually goes about 6 hours, but if I'm at my desk or in the car I plug it in.  I really dont want an iphone, so last week i paniced a bit and bought the extended battery.  I will have it today.  Verizon was discounting it 50%.  Not sure if I'll use it all the time as its a bit bulky from the pics.  I';ll have real world experience later today and post up.  I currently have a body glove cover and I dont think the extended battery will be larger than that, but I would like to find a cover that hides the extended battery so its not like I have a brick in my pocket lol.
Kevin

ps...This weekend I was at a wedding.  Took off the car charger at 530pm at 98%.  It lasted the whole night with light use.  Put it on the wall charger at 145am and still had 40% left.  not too bad....

Yes, let us know about the extended battery. I'm sure we've all been wondering if it really is too thick and awkward.

Glad to hear your battery is doing better!

OK well heres a review of the extended battery.  It and the cover are as thick as the body glove cover with the stock bettery.  Infact I ended up cutting the back out of my body glove cover as I wanted some protection (no covers available yet for the extended).  It is flush with the body glove cover.  So it doesnt look bad but I cant wait to a protective cover from seidio or someone comes out on the market.  From my research, it should be later this month.  As for the battery, it holds 2750 ma's.  the stock one is 1400 but I could never get it to show over 1300 ma's on the battery widget.  Yesteray was the first day with the extended battery.  I was home with the kids to until Lunch time.  I unplugged the phone at 1130 after letting it get full, turning it off, unplugging and letting the light go to green unplugged.  I then rebooted it.  I got 1130 am until 1130pm out of it.  I had screen on full bright, gps on, 4g on as well as wifi on, and used it pretty much all day moderately.  Today I used it heavily id say, and was at work where the building is cinder block.  I had 4g on all day, but had gps off and brightness on 2/3rds most of the day.  After a ton of emails texts and calls the batery went to 15% at 545 ish.  I removed it form the charger at 730am.  So 10hours and 15 minutes today.  I expect it to get better too as I break in the battery.  I really need a cover though that is made for it.  Any questions post away.

Not too thick...yet.  Waiting to see one of these other cases.  Cant companies grasp a slim case for a tbolt with a extended battery?  Its no thicker than an Iphone with one of those heavy duty Griffin cases that VZW sells.   I found a co called Trident.  They make cases for various phones.  I contacted them and they are making a Electra case for the tbolt.  I looked it up for the evo on their website and it replaces the stock extended back with their own back, and then silicon/rubber sides.  Looks ok but only comes with an extended battery and its $70. :-(

Battery life has been an issue and I have tried various fixes including turning off GPS and WiFi, turning off as many apps as possible, getting the 2750 MAh battery and keeping the brightness at the lowest setting with limited success.  I finally found something that made a big improvement yesterday. I changed the "skin" to one of the available options under the category of "live wallpapers" called "Spectrum."  It is a black screen with a narrow blue line that changes shape, very high tech looking. It has been over 8 hours since the last charge, moderate usage and I have about 75% power left.  Before this change I would have been down to about 25% percent under the same circumstances.  It appears that the big bright screen is the single largest source of battery drain so using a black background may be an answer.  I like the way the icons appear against the black background, good contrast outdoors too.
