I have a stereo that has a usb hook up in it, but when I plug my phone in it says error or no function. Please help!

I would think you would need an audio jack. I think the USB would really only be used for charging.

Yep. Just get a double sided male audio jack and plug one end into your phone and one end into the headphone jack of the stero. OR get a male jack with the audio plugs (red/white) on the other end and you can plug into your receiver as an alternate input.

Or you get a car radio that has Bluetooth and stream your music. Works great!
