Just got the tbolt a few days ago and am seriously considering rooting the phone but am nervous about it voiding the warranty.  If i were to root it and then something happened later to where i might need to take it back to verizon, can i return it back to stock first, like with a titanium backup or something?

Thanks in advance for the help

I've heard of this Root thing, but what's the purpose of it? How does it enhance you phone?

Basically what root is:

Gives user the ability to access locked system areas of phone.

Ability to install different operating systems and configure phone in more detail than stock can.

Root Developers usually find fixes to issues with phones and realease updates/patches before cell companies/manufacturers do.

Enhance speed of phone and battery life.

Some apps that werent made to run on phone or arent available for phone can be modified and made to work on phone..

And best of all, all different kinds of roms (system o/s) to choose from that make the phone more stable than stock..

You left out an important reason for Rooting:

Get rid of all the crapware preinstalled on your phone!

True :-)
Plus giving the added benefit of more speed smoother operation, and more battery life.
