You can download Phone Info from the market and do it to.....
Open goto Phone Information, scroll to Set Preferred network type and choose CDMA auto(PRL)

Have you tested it out?

Yes, just scroll down and switch the dropdown to the first choice available and it will shut off 4g

This app works great. I am on day 2 of a trial at work. So far It has helped dramatically with battery life. Props to whoever wrote the code for this!  Cool

I went to the local Verizon store and rep mentioned HTC should be coming out with a widget app that can toggle the 4G LTE on and off soon. 

He also mentioned all the Phone Info app is doing is dialing the phone number code to switch LTE on/off, which is all the HTC widget will do once released.

I'm now getting really good battery life like my Droid1 keeping it set to 3G. wink

Still love this phone!  I have only done temp root to freeze bloatware apps! (And a few other tweaks, that I learned from my rooted Droid with Gingerbread CM7.)
