For those of you using Google Voice on your TBolt, I'm curious how you have it setup.  I've seen some strange setups with GVoice and I'm curious how you use it.

I was one of the original beta testers of GVoice.  I had GVoice setup on my last two phones with Verizon.  When I upgraded, I didn't have to reactivate my phone with GVoice which was nice.  I know some people forward their TBolt to their GVoice number, but I've found it's unnecessary if you just configure it correctly in the GVoice settings.

I thought about porting my number to GVoice, but because it cancels your contract I've been hesitant.   Several years ago we ported our home phone number to a cell phone to save money.  Unfortunately, we got a lot of spam calls on that phone,  I ported the number to GVoice on my wife Google account (she used to use the number for her home business) and set it up so it goes to vmail unless the number is in her contact list.  The cell with this number was out of contract, but it was still a pain to port it with Verizon.  When the number was cancelled they tried to start a new 2 year contract!

My wife actually has two GVoice numbers, hers and our old home phone.  I setup a filter in her GMail that forwarded vmails just to the old home number to my Gmail so I can see them too.  A lot of our home utilities have the old number.

I only give out my GVoice number.  It rings my work and home computers as well as my TBolt.  If I'm at one of my PCs, I'll pickup in GMail to save minutes.  I don't forward vmails to email or SMS to my TBolt, I just use the app.  The only disadvantage of this is the lack of widgets that show GVoice notifications.  I've been using Executive Assistant + since it was a daily free app at Amazon as it can show missed calls and GVoice SMS.

I always send texts through GVoice so I don't have to worry about backing up my SMS.

Another tip I learned is for easily finding your TBolt.  Setup a white noise ringtone on your TBolt only for your GVoice number.  Then if you misplace your phone in your house you can call from your computer to find it quickly.  Lifehacker did an article about whitenoise ringtones:  http://goo.gl/kmLYI

Any other tips?  I'd love to hear them.

I don't have anything clever setup. I use it but not to the extent that I'd like. I only have it hooked to my cell phone number (I don't have a home phone). My work number has an extension, no direct dial, so I can't set it up with that like I would like to do.
