PLEASE READ everything carefully. This is a newer and easier way to root but you should still read and understand what it does.

When done, you have to install, Superuser, busybox and cloclwork recovery.

Goto market to download Busybox & Superuser (Su).

For Clockwork recovery, download rom manager from the market, open the app and hit install recovery (you have to select the thunderbolt version by scrolling through the list)

Good Luck and once again, Neither me, the site or anyone else is responsible if something goes wrong or your phone bricks. We will try and help you through the process or if you get stuck but actually performing root is your responsibility and yours alone...

Ned,there are no instructions. Smiley That had me flustered a little too but once I did I figured they didn't put any because it's so simple.

Connect your phone via USB. Make sure you have USB debugging enabled, Unzip that file and run the executable. It will do it's magic. If you look in the FAQ on of the points says:

"Does Revolutionary give me root?
No. You will need to flash this zipfile from recovery. "

Download that file and save it to your SD card. Then boot into recovery and flash that file and you will be rooted.  I had previously downloaded superuser and busybox installer so that they were ready after I flashed that file. Pretty simple. Let me know if you need more help.

Ooops, I forgot to answer your radio question. Your radio should stay the same.

"Does revolutionary give me root". I went to download that zip file and there is a count down before i can download it. Everytime it gets to zero i get a new screen where it says if it doesnt download to click here but all of a sudden it goes back to the countdown screen and starts a countdown again. Ive tried this a couple of times and everytime it does the same thing. Flash from recovery? I held power on and volume up like I did on the eris but it booted normaly. Thanks again

Try downloading it in another browser. I think I had that problem in IE but it worked fine in Opera.

Turn the phone off. Hold the volume down and power button at the same time to turn on the phone. Keep holding the power down and it will boot you into recovery.

I unzipped the rev zip, had my phone charge only- debugging on.There are 6 files in the unzipped folder,i clicked on the application file revolutionary, a command window popped up then disaapeared then nothing so what am i doing wrong. Thanks again
Plus I cant seem to boot into recovery....can this be done from a stock phone? pressing volum down and power boots me into Hboot? i pick recovery and then i get the red triangle and have to pull my battery

Im about ready to say F**k it

Running that application should open a black command prompt window which will then wait for you to have your phone plugged in. I'm not sure why it's disappearing on you. I didn't run into that at all.

And yes, that's how you boot into recovery with a stock phone. So that's not the issue.

Yeah, I don't know what that's all about but it seems bad. Sorry, I'm not sure what to tell you at this point.
