HTC Thunderbolt owners, you may want to head into Settings>Software update and hit the “Check New” button…
This would be the same update we uncovered almost two weeks ago and is also the same one that was cancelled on the day it was supposed to be released to the world.

My friend tried to update his HTC Tbolt but he says that he gets this message: "hey herb I was trying to check it and it doesn't let me it says not available until services available when I have service"

Does this make any sense?  I told him that he might not be in an area to get a signal to do the download. I know that I have to use wi-fi at times because my signal fluctuates dramatically. However, I just reset my phone to receive 3G only and not for it to look of the LTE 4G network.
Thanks for the help
Herb

Some people have got that message. Just have your friend keep trying by going into

menu-settings-software update-check new

It will go through eventually.

I am downloading it now. Hope it helps with my connectivity issues, I seem to lose 3G very often.

It will un-root your phone.  It's easy enough to re-root but this update doesn't have anything I want/need.  Check out Verizon's site to see what's in it.

Downloads the radio only. Works like a charm no loss of root. If you allow update of Rom then your unrooted....thanks
