The mobile hotspot was deactivated on the 7th. if you try to activate it it will give you a message. This new update had nothing to do with the hotspot. Verizon disabled it on there end so when your phone tries to contact the network it is denied.
If you dont pay for it, you wont be able to use it..
Not true........the hotspot gets killed with the update. I didn't update since I'm not having the reboot issues and I fixed my BT connectivity on my own. I just used the mobile hotspot last night for about an hour while I was in the car. Worked great.

Well you were one of the lucky ones.
I can tell you my statement is true because I witnessed first hand multiple users who tried to use it on the 7th and when they actually went to check the box to activate it, they got the message it was deactivated.
You may have gotten yours deactivated later then some but I can confirm through my verizon contacts that they started rolling out the turn off as of 2am on the 7th

Just be glad you had it. Every time I tried to use the mobile hotspot I got a message that I would be charged for the service. Didn't really bother me, though.

I noticed that I still have the Mobile Hotspot feature as well since I did not and cannot get the update. No worries however because I was lucky enough never to have a random reboot in my 2 months of Tbolt ownership.

On my Verizon TB, this update killed the video ability of Skype Mobile, forcing me to download standard non-video Skype..

I get a FC every time I try a video chat with Skype, as well. Didn't use it much anyway. I will wait for more updates.

My phone doesn't reboot since update. (1.70.605.0) Just got my phone last week and had several random reboots. After the latest update I have had none.

Does anyone else who did not download the update still have mobile hotspot? I am afraid that they may charge me even though I have not signed up for it.

Just to clear some worried minds out there with the 1.70.605 update and mobile hotspot. It's safe to do, and it did NOT take away the mobile hotspot from me. I have a company TB with original firmware and unlimited data since April. During a setup call for my phone in April, the Verizon rep told me that I am grandfathered as far as the unlimited data and mobile hotspot concern. I was so worried losing it during this update, but I decided to give it a try after reading MastaBrozif's post.
The result: hotspot works fine, and the phone seems responds a little faster even I never had the problems other people complained about. I am a HC!
Should verizon treat the individual contract different from corporate contracts, I don't know. If any one out there locked in a contract before the tiered plan and did the update and hotspot still works for you, please follow up this thread.
P.S. I don't really like the updated red icon for hotspot.

Have you actually tried to use the hotspot. As soon as you check it to turn it on it will start the process but you should get a popup box asking you to call them to activate it. If not, be very careful, some thought they had it too and after one full billing period, they were charged. 2 were charged the unlimited $30 plan since they were grandfathered in and had unlimited data already but some others didnt get the warning either and thought they were getting over and now just saw there bill and it came out to about $400-$800 dollars for some of them..

Yes when I press the box it activates and works. Thanks for the heads up I will make sure not to use it for this month and check my bill at the end to see if Verizon tries to charge me.

Did anyone else get this problem after the update? Ever since I updated I am on 3G more often then before. Not happy about that.
Since I got my TB in April my phone only rebooted twice before the update. Hasn't rebooted since the update. But I'm not happy about my 3G issue.

Yea, some people get that. It will be addressed again with next update.
If you are rooted, you can flash a newer radio that addresses this.
