Recently with in the last week I have begun to get a star with a red dot in the middle.  I open the notification and it takes me to some ad for some other companies, like zoosk, and radio on the go.

Any way of finding out which program is causing this?  I have loaded many apps in the past week so which one is causing it is something I have tried to figure out and can not.  Is there a way to do this.  I also get an ad to download an app to stop the ads, now that's advertising.  The site is apushx.com

Any help would be great or I am going to have to hard reset my phone to get rid of it I think and don't want to do that if I don't have to.
Thanks
Keith

Yikes!

Well, I found a few things:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1053824

http://htcthunderbolt4g.com/incredible-support-troubleshooting/325803-seeing-ads-my-notification-bar.html

Looks like it could be an App for sure. If it is one of the Apps mentioned in these strings, you may be able to delete it. However, last resort (as you mentioned), is a reset.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info.  Unfortunately I do not have any of those aps loaded on my phone but installed a few of the program to monitor the system to see if I can identify it when the pop up comes back.  The second link that you posted did go anywhere but back to the home screen.  I have tried several searches with out any success.  I will try to find out where you found that info.

Thanks

They're called AirPush I believe. It's a new way developers are selling ad space. It's despicable in my opinion. Try uninstalling all apps you've downloaded in the past week or two one by one to see which one does it if the monitor doesn't work. You could also write the dev a scathing email once you find it and comment it saying it has these ads.

Sorry about that. Every time I try to paste the link it gets replaced with another one. So sorry. Try a Google search for:

android forums star red dot notification bar

that will bring up the Android Forum post that I was trying to reference.

Hope you are able to get something out of this one. If not, I would suggest a reset. Sad

I found the app that was creating the airpush advertisements.  Download Airpush detector from the market.  It worked great and identified the app that had the airpush ads associated with it.  Its been several hours now with no ads.

Hope this helps

+1 for airpush detector app

This just started on mine. Downloaded Airpush Detector (thank you!) and it found Sketch Me. I have removed it and hope they stop. So frustrating.
