Has anyone gotten this phone to completely charge to 100%?
So I have tried several times now and it never gets to 100% , when turned off and charged.

I always let it die, thats what I did with others phones and its always been best for my battery.
With the TB , I let it run down, I plug it in and charge it overnivght, anywhere from 8 - even 12 hours. I turn it on and best I have gotten it to is 97%.
If I shut it off and plug the charger in again it will charge for an hour or so and when I check it again its at like 93 or 93.
The only way to get to 100 is if I turn it on and then plug it back in until its green....

Am I the only one? Shouldnt the phone charge to max when plugged in and off?

I even tried that tip from HTC and it made no difference.

Sorry, this is kind of frustrating me....I am obsessed with battery management!  Grin

However wuth that said I just did the bump deal and didnt worry about getting it to 100% and its been WAYYYYY better today.
Thanks JPC for responding.

The phone is close to not usable in it's current state.

I am REALLY disappointed with the battery life the my new Thunderbolt.
Bump... Shmump.

I read all the articles on how to tweak a little more life out of your battery (and slowly weaken your battery).

My old Omnia (Win Mobe;e 6.1)
Wake up, unplug the phone... Do my morning stuff... Read the NY Times on the phone.
Use the Blue Tooth in my car.
Throughout the day, maybe play some solitaire, browse Internet or whatever, and still have some power into the next morning.

This new Thunderbolt.
Wake up... blah, blah, no longer read the NY Times on my phone because I'm afraid to kill the battery.
Don't play games, don't browse the Internet too much.
No Blue Tooth.
The phone is usually dead by dinner time 6:00PM.
I even dimmed the display.

One thing I hate about the phone is nothing ever shuts down.
Play a game, use a map, and then an hour later look at your running tasks and they're still there.
So you have to kill the task.

My hope is that once I root the phone and install a new Gingerbread ROM that a lot of these problems will go away and the phone can at least make it to midnight.

Yea battery can be bad at first, but mine has gotten better over time, root will help & using certain kernals can help too. Im going on about 7-9 hours per day on standard battery. I ordered the new 1700mah batteries, just waiting for them.

Unfortunately the more advanced technology the more power needed..

I ordered the new 1700mah batteries

I was thinking of getting a stronger battery also.
Are you getting something like a China knock-off or are you getting your battery from Verizon.
(Or maybe some other reputable battery).

When you get your battery can you post in here what type of performance you get out of it?
(Or just send me a message.  I would appreciate it)

Thanks,

I found this article on the PC Magazine website:

March 18, 2011 12:46pm EST
Improve HTC Thunderbolt Battery Life With a Big Battery

"HTC and Verizon will offer a very high-capacity extended battery, the companies told me. The 2750 mAh battery is nearly twice the capacity of the Thunderbolt's built-in 1400 mAh unit. The big battery will cost $49.99 and will be available very soon, said Pat Bucci, Verizon's director of accessory products."

So skip that 1700mah battery and go to this bigger one.

Here is the link to the article:

Yes they do work well but I actually saw these but i dont like the size and needing a bigger back cover. it just looks ugly and adds more weight.

The ones i bought are same size of original..
