Hey all, I'm new to the droid family and I have been having a problem I am hoping someone can help me fix. My stock message app kept crashing and needing a force close so I downloaded the go sms pro app. I keep sending double texts out and getting many complaints from the recipiants of said problem. This is very frustrating and since I am new to the thunderbolt, I am not sure of the settings and how to set up the phone properly. Thanks for any help everyone woot woot! My email is jwurst46@gmail.com if anyone could send help there or if the notifications send there I'm not to sure either. Thanks again! Jason

You will want to turn notifications off in the stock messaging app. From messages, select menu, settings, turn off notifications in MMS, received messages, etc. I had to do the same thing for my Handcent. Your annoyance should be gone soon. Hope that helps!

I just tried that after seeing a post from jrocker...so far so good. But in his post he (I assume its a he?) said to clear the default messager. I'm not sure how to do this. I went into menu->settings-> applications and it wasn't highlighted so I couldn't change it.

Hmm. Are you certain you have Sent notification turned off in the stock app and in go sms pro? I would check all my settings in go sms pro just to be safe. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with that app. Perhaps another user of it can help.

I just sent you another response to your email. DO NOT delete the stock message app, it will deleted your message files that the phone needs to send messages with any program you try to use..

Honestly, I wouldn't even know how to do so..but I am getting frustrated with it. I uninstalled GoSMS Pro, made sure all notifications are off on the stock app, then reinstalled. Just finished a battery pull as well. I really don't want to do a factory reset as I'll loose all my info, etc.

So are you fixed now after doing that? I use GoSMS without problems once I turned offstock message notifications.

I'm not sure I keep asking if its fixed to people I'm texting. It seems like it may be intermittent. But I haven't heard it doing it in the past few texts

If worse comes to worse, get a sms backup program and contacts program from the market and back up your info then factory reset. Its really a great phone and dont let this little issue put u off.
I have had the phone since launch day and i have not had any of the problems that anyone has reported and overall it still is the best and fastest phone on the market. No other phone has all the things that the tbolt has. The other new phones all have bits and pieces but not all the tbolt has. Also don' t let dual core fool you, its not everything it is made out to be and tbolt still beats some of them in bench tests....
Sent from my rooted Htc Thunderbolt...
