The pieces are coming together for a few of the phones that made my top 5 upcoming smartphone list. The Droid Bionic recently got a Q2 release window, the Atrix 4G is coming at the end of February, the Galaxy S 2/4G is set to be announced on February 13th, and the BlackBerry Dakota, well, who knows when RIM is going to put that out.

That’s only 4 phones though, San Francisco.

The fifth?

The HTC ThunderBolt which essentially is a 4G LTE version of the HTC Thunderbolt, you know the popular device that’s on Sprint. If you’ve ever played with the Thunderbolt before then you’d know why the ThunderBolt is such an exciting device.

Sadly, HTC and Verizon haven’t clued us in on a release date yet but that doesn’t mean we don’t have a rumored one.

Droid-Life is saying that the ThunderBolt is going to be dropping in February and specifically, on the 24th, a Thursday.

That date also falls just two weeks after the release of the iPhone 4 on Verizon.

That’s not all they are claiming either.

We have heard that the ThunderBolt is going to be priced at $250 before and this report doesn’t dispute that. They too say that the device will cost $250 on a two-year contract. However, there are some other options.

Apparently, the ThunderBolt will cost $329 with a 1 year contract or $599 at full retail price. That’s a pretty steep price to pay for a 1 year contract but I could see some people being enticed.

So, circle the 24th in pencil for now San Francisco, and look out for something official at the beginning of next month.
