Maybe this has already been posted.  If it has... sorry.

Have people found that the Thunderbolt is getting confused as to which Ringtone to play for an incoming call?

I have about six downloaded ringtones on my phone.
The default ringtone and ringtones for each of my kids, my wife, and some other friends and family.

The problem is the phone keeps playing the wrong ringtone.
I associated the ringtones properly (I believe).

Is this a known bug in the phone?
Is this worth a call to Verizon Tech Support?

Thanks,
Jed K

Never seen this. I have several different ringtones set and don't have any kind of problem. Are you going into the contacts and setting them for each individual there?

Are you going into the contacts and setting them for each individual there?

I have a bunch of ringtones in the Ringtone sdcard/ringtone directory.
Individuals have ringtones assigned to them and I assigned the default ringtone.

some examples:
A person with the default ringtone will call and I hear my wife's ringtone or some other ringtone.
My son will call and I'll hear the house ringtone, or some other ringtone.
My son will call again and it will be a totally different ringtone.

The ringtones are mostly WMA files.

Thanks,

My question was more about *how* you assigned the ringtones. Did you go into the contacts and do it manually or are you using some kind of ringtone app.

Yes, both my wife and I are experiencing this. It started after both of the last couple of GB updates. I can't figure out what happened either. However, I suspect that it has to do with "linking". When the TBolt gives you those numbers that appear the same, names, etc. from all your accounts (Gmail, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.) and asks you to link, I suspect something goes wrong there. Try unlinking some of those accounts and see if that helps to restore your ringtones to normal. Good luck.

All my contacts are in GMail, which is probably true for most Android Users.  I disabled the Verizon Backup Assistant.  I do have Facebook but actually none of the contacts in question are linked.  (My kids won't "friend" me in Facebook, and my wife, and house don't have Facebook accounts).  The default ringtone doesn't have a link either.  So there is nothing to unlink.

The problem did start after the last few Android updates.  When it started exactly I don't know.

I know if I call Verizon they will tell me to wipe out my address book and then let it resync with Gmail.  At that point reassign all my ringtones.  That is their answer to everything:  Start over.

Thanks,

I am having problems with my ringtones too!  I have set them throught each contact but my ring will pick up the last caller's ringtone.  I have searched and searched for an answer and also called verizon.  They had me set my phone back to default, but the ringtones are still mixed up.

I did not use any ringtone application.  This is just using the standard address book.

Now that more people are coming forward with the same problem, I feel better knowing this is a software bug.  So hopefully this will be fixed in a future patch.  It is very annoying though in the meantime.
